If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you'll have seen that for Christmas I was lucky enough to get a One Sketch A Day Journal. It's funny how quickly you integrate something like this into your life and I've found myself over the last month or so carrying it with me wherever I go - just incase I have a moment to doodle. I love how the space for each day is not that large and that each page is split into two days. For someone like me who finds a large blank page a bit intimidating it's the perfect size; large enough to do a quick sketch but not so large that you feel like you need to create a 'work of art'. I've been pleasantly surprised at how I've kept it up, with all the pressures of my course this year I was worried I wouldn't, but I've used it a bit like a visual diary; drawing things or hand-lettering quotes that relate to what I did that day or to how I was feeling, and I think that this has actually helped keep me grounded (and sane!) throughout. Here are a few of my doodles from January 2017 (how did that happen again?!), which although are far from perfect, were interesting for me to look back on and which, I hope, you will enjoy looking at too!
