If you follow me on instagram, you'll know that with my new found freedom I have been busy decking my metaphorical halls with festive decor. I don't usually put photos of my flat on here but this year I'm pretty pleased with my budget Christmas decorations and so thought I'd share them, and where I got them, with you.
As I mentioned in a previous post, last year I decided to change up our Christmas colour theme from white and duck egg blue to white and copper. This year, I've been obsessed with dusky pinks and flocked greenery and so decided to add this in. My boyfriend was pretty against this idea at first but I have to say he has slowly come around to it and has been pleasantly surprised with how its turned out. We're hoping to buy our first home soon and so not spending too much on new decorations was really important for us, which being the crafter I am, presented the perfect challenge! I've been able to repurpose a lot of old decorations and make any new ones.
>> THE TREE <<
Arguably the most important part of anyones Christmas decorations, I had a lot of fun getting my Christmas tree ready this year. Sadly, both my and I boyfriend are allergic to everything, including real Christmas trees, and so we have to have an artificial tree. Although you don't get that lovely smell, there are some big advantages to having an artificial tree - financially it's definitely more economical and aesthetically you can move the branches to get it looking exactly how you want. I love the flocked / snowy trees that are about this year and so first of all I gave our tree a subtle makeover using white spray paint and a snow spray. Once this was dry, I added warm white fairy lights, a light-up star tree topper and several white baubles, which we already owned. I think these are from a mixture of Primark, Argos, Wilko and also some that my parents didn't want anymore. I then painted some old silver baubles in a dusky pink paint, which along with some old repurposed copper baubles, I added to the tree. Finally, I added some pink artificial flowers again from Wilko and some artificial white twig picks.

>> THE FIREPLACE <<
I think the fireplace is probably my favourite part of my whole flat at the moment. To create this look whilst keeping the cost down as much as possible, I got this gorgeous (but really cheap!) mistletoe garland from my local Wilko store and teamed it with two silver pillar candle holders, a white sparkly reindeer ornament and a pair of wicker stars, which I already owned. I got these from Wilko and Homesense many moons ago and so I don't they're available to buy anymore but I've linked some similar ones I've found elsewhere for you below. Next, I added in a couple of the white and copper paper christmas trees I made in my previous post and dotted some more old repurposed copper baubles (also on the blog!), new mini pink and gold baubles and artificial pink flowers in between the foliage. I also added in a couple of tea light candle holders, including this copper-dipped votive I made a couple of years ago. To finish, I tied some battery-operated copper moroccan fairy lights I already owned to each pillar candle holder so that they hung down in front of the fireplace.

>> THE BEDROOM <<
In the run up to Christmas, there's nothing I love more than getting home from work, changing into my PJs and wrapping up under a blanket with the Christmas tree lights twinkling. So much so, that if I didn't have my little light up Christmas tree in the bedroom on my chest of drawers then I probably wouldn't want to go to bed at all. I got this lovely pre-lit flocked tree from Robert Dyas for under £10, which I decorated with miniature pink, silver and copper baubles. Again, the copper baubles I made by spray painting some old miniature silver baubles with a copper rust-oleum spray paint. To make the paper chain in the background, I used the dusky pink paint I used for my main christmas tree ornaments and painted a page of thick paper. I then cut this into short strips and used cellotape to secure each link in the chain.
