Put a mid-century modern twist on your Easter decorations this year!

I’ve done a couple of Tombow workshops this lockdown, which were good fun and gave me my first taste of using Tombow brush pens. They’re really versatile, dry quickly and much to my surprise you can actually blend them together. I had some paper craft eggs leftover from last year, and so with Easter fast approaching I decide to use my Tombow pens to create this mid-century modern pattern on them for my Easter decorations. This was so quick and easy, and you can mix up the pattern and colours depending on how you want them to look. They didn’t come out quite as neat as I would have liked them to be I have to say, but when you don’t look too closely you can’t see notice it too much. Overall I love how they look and it’s fun to see the different sides of the pattern when the eggs slowly spin on the thread. My makeshift Easter tree here is simply a faux eucalyptus branch in a tall vase from Ikea, which we already had. Keep reading for the step by step guide…

Use a brush pen to create a large circular shape on one side of the craft egg
Using another colour, create a slightly smaller circular shape on the other side of the craft egg
Use a black pen to create a smaller circle or two overlapping these coloured shapes
Use the black pens to create an elongated rainbow one side of the egg, and continue this all around the egg, finishing it off with a rainbow shape at the other end
Once dry, create a hole in the top and use superglue to fix a jewellery eye pin in the top
Cut off a length of thread and loop this through the loop of the eye pin and tie a knot at the end
