Repurpose old glass candles in a few easy steps!
A few weeks ago, I created these lovely ombre taper candles for Mother’s day. I melted a fair amount of wax for it, including the contents of an old glass jar I had, but hardly usd any of it in the end to create the ombre effect. With all that lovely light purple wax left, and a now clean glass candle jar, I decided to get out my stash of candle wicks and give the wax and jar a new lease of life.
This is such an easy project, but repurposing anything for me is always one of the most satisfying. I didn’t think too much about the scent of the candle wax I was mixing, but fortunately it’s turned out really pleasant and I love having a subtle pop of purple in the bedroom. It really makes it feel more Spring-like in there!

First of all, clean out any leftover wax in the candle we want to repurpose. Pour this into another glass jar.
2.
Wash out the glass candle with hot water and then dry completely.
3.
Grab some wicks and super glue, and glue the wicks to the bottom of the candle.
4.
Place the jar with the old wax in into a water bath and add more old wax or remnants of candles so that you have enough to fill the candle.
5.
Be sure to wear protective gloves. Use a long skewer to remove any old wicks and give it a stir.
6.
Pour the melted wax into your glass candle jar. Wrap the wicks around a stick or pencil to keep these upright whilst the candle cools.
7.
Finally, trim the wicks down.
