Create an adorable clay flower plaque for Mother’s day!
I’m pretty much obsessed with clay at the moment, there’s just so much you can do with it, and especially air-dry clay. When I was deciding what to make next, I knew I wanted to use clay, and after a recent delivery, I have SO much clay (so expect a lot of clay projects this year!). After a bit of Pinterest browsing as well as my partner’s opinion, which was simply “flowers”, I decided to have a go at making my own clay plaque with a cute mum and flower-related quote on it. I’ve never made a plaque before, but it was so simple, and with the right tools, anyone could make it. I’ve linked some similar tools to the one’s I used below however I couldn’t unfortunately find the exact same ones as I’ve had them for ages.
I think this would make a nice little addition to a bouquet of flowers, or on it’s own as a gift with a hook on the back. I chose to keep mine pretty minimal, with the only colour being the silver of the letters and flowers, but you could decorate your own with as many colours as you like. First of all, cut off some air dry clay and roll out it out to your desired thickness.

Next, use a straight edge to cut out your plaque. Make this however big you like.

Roughly plan out where you want your letters and flowers, and then begin stamping your letters.

Use flower-shaped icing cutters to add plan where to have your flowers. I decided to have some left as stamped shapes.

Roll out some of the leftover clay, and use the cutters to cut out flower shapes. Stick these onto the plaque with some water.

Leave your plaque to dry thoroughly. I left mine for a couple of days and then sanded the edges and any bumps.

Grab some paint and paint the letters as well as the flowers. I chose silver for my letters and flowers and to not paint the rest of the plaque
