Upcycle old textured baubles using this faux rustic metal effect!
It’s officially Christmas month! I’ve had my decorations up for a couple of weeks now but I know for a lot of people that today or this weekend may be when they decide to put theirs up. I feel like there’s a lot of pressure to buy new decorations each year, but there’s really no need. It gets far too expensive and is so wasteful. Instead, find out those old textured baubles you haven’t used in years, and give them a new lease of life with a lick of paint. This is such an easy DIY and but it makes such a difference! Keep reading to find out what I used and how I did it…
1.
First of all, remove the hanging part of the bauble and ensure it is clean.
2.
Use a chalk paint (I used Rustoleum Furniture Paint in Hessian) to paint a layer all over.
3.
Once completely dry, paint another layer and a third depending on the original colour of your bauble.
4.
Once completely dry, dip a new clean brush into metallic paint and remove most of the paint onto paper before lightly brush over the textured areas of your bauble.
5.
Leave to dry, add the hanger and add to your tree.
